"Take Five" for WSU and higher education

Operation Rolling Thunder – we need a few good Cougs (like you!)

butch-vote

WSU Impact is launching Operation Rolling Thunder Cougar Style.” You joined WSU Impact to create a better future for higher education in our state – this is your moment to join voices with your fellow Cougs and make a positive impact on higher education!

We know you believe it’s important to keep tuition low for students and families. We know you believe the state should invest in quality curriculum, providing academic choices for students in high demand fields, and expand academic programs at WSU North Puget Sound at Everett.

But do your legislators know that? If not, they need to hear from you!

We want each of the state’s 147 legislators to hear from committed Cougs like you during the final weeks of the legislative session. With more than one thousand WSU Impact members, we have the opportunity to generate more than one thousand messages in support of investment in higher education, in WSU, and in our future.

What is Operation Rolling Thunder?

The goal is simple: keep a steady stream of WSU Impact members’ messages going to every legislator in the 49 legislative districts across the state of Washington.

We will be sending out specific requests to 10 regionally-identified groups of WSU Impact’s members in Washington State.

Between now and April 26th – the day the legislature is currently scheduled to end – we will send out 10 regional calls to actions to our 1092 registered WSU Impact members.

By sending out specific “take action” requests to our members by regions, positive messages will arrive steadily into legislators’ inboxes over the next three weeks.

The map below shows how we are organizing our WSU Impact members by region, and how many registered members we have in each of the 10 regions.

Once you receive your specific email request to act, we hope you “take action.” With your help and support, we will achieve a “rolling thunder” of supportive messages to every legislator in the state.

As a reminder, contacting your three legislators is easy using your interactive web-based tools. Once you are logged-in using the WSU Impact tools, your message is automatically formatted to go to your two state Representatives and your state Senator.

One, easy click on the “take action” button found on your personal home page, under the tab Current Issues, and your message is automatically formatted with your signature and sent to your legislators’ respective email inboxes. For a graphic tutorial on how to use the advocacy part of the WSU Impact website, please click here.

By logging in with your email and your personal password, your WSU Impact personal home page will pop up on your screen. Your voice is vitally important during this time of the legislative session. The state House and state Senate are conferencing to reconcile the differences between the two Chambers’ differing budget proposals and your voice matters in this process.

Please “Take Action” when you receive your special email to support continued reinvestment in the overall higher education budget, specifically to help keep tuition low, yet fully fund access to high demand academic programs and provide compensation to ensure a quality education experience on WSU campuses across the state.
