There is so much to support when it comes to higher education in Washington State.  As a proud alumni or friend of WSU, you know how important a college degree is to advancing a career, raising a family, and being a life long learner.

There are over 196,000 WSU Alumni worldwide cheering “GoCougs!” yet only 1600 WSU Impact members. We know we can do better, and WSU needs our ongoing support in Olympia.

We ask you to support WSU’s efforts to expand education and research in service to citizens across our state, nation, and world. As a public university, WSU depends on voices like yours to share why you value WSU, how your college education has made an impact in your life, and why you care about the future of higher education.

At WSU Impact, we like to live by the WSU fight song “Fight, Fight, Fight for Washington State” – and we like to advocate by sharing positive experiences and our opinions on the value of higher education with our lawmakers.

    We are want to make a difference in the world we live in, and sometimes we are not sure what the GET-INVOLVED-GRAPHICbest way is to do that. When you join WSU Impact we will become your educational resource for citizen advocacy to stay informed and take action on the issues affecting higher education in the state of Washington. We will make it easy for you to become an advocate.
  1. Create a better future for higher education in our state
    The decisions being made will have a lasting impact on current and future opportunities for our children. The urgency of issues impact public higher education requires each of us to become an advocate for Washington State University.

    Communicating with your legislators and sharing your personal story describing the importance of WSU and higher education is an excellent way to provide a new frame of reference for assessing issues.
  1. Hold elected officials accountable for the decisions they make for your community and help them make the right one.
    Legislators depend on you and me to constructively engage and share information and stories that help them understand the pulse of the district they represent. Sometimes they do not have any real feelings for the consequences when voting for certain issues, and that is when they depend on constituents – people who they represent –  to share the human aspect of these issues.

    A personal letter — even if is sent electronically — remains one of the most effective ways to communicate with your legislator. Your legislator pays attention to his/her mail and inboxes. It is the primary way an elected official knows what their constituents care about.
