WSU Presidential Search – be engaged

best eco devo impact

Washington State University has announced that the formal search for the next president has started with the scheduling of listening sessions to gather input and comment.
WSU has had 10 great presidents in its history, and the Board of Regents is leading the efforts on the search of selecting the 11th president.

Selecting the next president is not a simple task and it is not one the Board of Regents and the official Search Advisory Committee take lightly. WSU will be searching first for candidates who can best guide WSU and its land grant mission forward. Following the narrowing of candidates, each of the finalists will be going through visits to the WSU campuses and going through further interviewing and selection processes.

In September, the Regents named  the 25-member advisory committee, which includes members of a wide variety of backgrounds, expertise, and perspectives. However, the Advisory Committee understands how important it to ensure the search is well informed and that the many segments of the WSU community—faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends, and other stakeholders—have an opportunity to share their views on the characteristics of WSU’s next leader.

The WSU Presidential Search Advisory Committee is inviting your input about the considerations important in selecting the university’s next president during a series of statewide community forums that begin next week.

They ask that the WSU community share their thoughts on the following topics:

  • Opportunities for WSU and the next president
  • Challenges the president may face
  • Ways to measure the president’s success

Your comments can be made by in-person by attending one of the various community meetings or posting online by visiting: https://presidentialsearch.wsu.edu/forums/ Schedules for the upcoming meetings can be accessed at the site.

Your feedback will be shared with the advisory committee and others involved in the search process. We urge WSU Impact members to follow the WSU Presidential Search website and be active in the process. We will continue to update our members and followers as the process continues.
