Regular session coming to an end – what say you?

The regular legislative session is scheduled to end on April 23rd. However, as had been the case over the last several state budget bienniums, we anticipate the legislature will be unable to come to agreement between the three proposed budgets – operating, capital, and transportation – and the differing versions of those budgets offered by the two houses, the state House and state Senate. If you have not had a chance yet, now would be a great time to check out your own personalized home page offered by WSU Impact and take action. Below, we spell out the issues and links to take action. It is not too late. WSU Impact makes it easy, you make the difference.

OK. It is Spring and after this long winter, it is welcomed to see the trees start to leaf out, the bulbs bursting with color, and grass starting to grow. It is also the best time, this last week of the legislative regular session, to be sure you do your civic duty and let your legislators know shutterstock_649701what you value and care about.

Please click on this link and scroll to current issues and review the legislative priorities for WSU. To learn how WSU’s priorities are faring so far this legislative session, we urge you to poke around our posts on WSU Impact or visit the WSU Government Relations blog – it is an excellent resource to watch video of short testimony, get quick results of differing votes and progress, and stay up to date on WSU’s mission of expanding student access to the university and supporting high quality education and research.

Yes, intrepid WSU Impacters: the lawn is in need of mowing, T-ball is starting, and the fresh outdoors beacon us away from our laptops and a long, wet and cold winter. But, this is also the best season and the most opportune time to take action in support of Washington State University. Our supporters are our best voices to let legislators know – right now, before the official close of the regular session – how you feel and what you support.

Go ahead – just do it – take action today!
